¿Tips alguien? Ah, ¿es chisme o morbo? ¿Cómo le pides a alguien a quien sólo fregabas que sea tu 'cuate' 10 años después?

There’s something twisted in anniversaries and birthdays. Besides the fact of having to be extremely and stupidly polite with whoever calls to say: “Hi, congratulations. How are you?” You have to fake a smile and parade through that day with extreme happiness. But, what happens when you want to be home and drown in self-pity; or when you just wish to be in bed, trying to cover mistakes and actions with your blankets and pillows? I really hate when everyone around you takes for granted a happiness that’s not real or that you don’t want to acknowledge, at least not during that ‘special day’. It’s just a year (usually crappy, especially if you got divorce, lost your job, had to get a mortgage, went to the funeral of someone you loved, etc, etc), but everyone wants to add words of wisdom and best wishes to it (and worst they are not always sincere). But well… at least I can complain.

Para reflexionar
This belief comes from my unyielding faith in the decency and generosity of the American people. But it also comes from my own American story.
I am the son of a black man from Kenya and a white woman from Kansas. I was raised with the help of a white grandfather who survived a Depression to serve in Patton’s Army during World War II and a white grandmother who worked on a bomber assembly line at Fort Leavenworth while he was overseas. I’ve gone to some of the best schools in America and lived in one of the world’s poorest nations. I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slaveowners – an inheritance we pass on to our two precious daughters. I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.
It’s a story that hasn’t made me the most conventional candidate. But it is a story that has seared into my genetic makeup the idea that this nation is more than the sum of its parts – that out of many, we are truly one.
Throughout the first year of this campaign, against all predictions to the contrary, we saw how hungry the American people were for this message of unity. Despite the temptation to view my candidacy through a purely racial lens, we won commanding victories in states with some of the whitest populations in the country. In South Carolina, where the Confederate Flag still flies, we built a powerful coalition of African Americans and white Americans.
This is not to say that race has not been an issue in the campaign. At various stages in the campaign, some commentators have deemed me either “too black” or “not black enough.” We saw racial tensions bubble to the surface during the week before the South Carolina primary. The press has scoured every exit poll for the latest evidence of racial polarization, not just in terms of white and black, but black and brown as well.
And yet, it has only been in the last couple of weeks that the discussion of race in this campaign has taken a particularly divisive turn.

mowed ear, bad head
So what, my mind just suddenly switched to English. Hope it stays like this for a few more days, but I'm possitive it will switch back to Spanish in just a few hours. Anyway. The two men in my life C and R (ok, R is my dog) had huge, massive problems with their heads today. Both problems involved severe amounts of blood (well, just a drop here and there).
So I was happily daydreaming in my bed. Finally finished On Chesil Beach and was trying to make up my mind about it: loved it or hated it, when out of the blue, C screams my name. He's always playing, so I didn't care. Act two: he crept out of the bathroom, face green and teary eyes. What happend? Well, I will never how, but he stumbled into the wall and got a huge bump, a couple of scatches and few drops of blood, right in the middle of the scull.
Act three: R was there, just being a happy dog, as always. But something catched my eye when I stroked him. A drop of blood was on the floor. I do have to say that first I doubled checked my hands and my nose, but it was him. He went for a bath and haircut (well, me, a nice and concerned owner, took the puppy to the vet because it stung) and the stupid hairdresser (or shall I say dog-dresser?)just mowed (yes, as in mow the grass) his ear.

I create the monsters that live under my bed, and in my closet, and bathroom and desk and phone... basically I create my own shadows, my own fears, and they scare me, but push me and... at least they are really cute. Crazy little bluish and redish things crawling around the white of my eye, always hunting me and then scaping to my hair, they use it as a slide, but they are my monsters, and I like them

LEER PARA CREER
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) -- A 16-foot python stalked a family dog for days before swallowing the pet whole in front of horrified children in the Australian tropics, animal experts said Wednesday.
A 16-foot python swallows a family's dog on Monday night in Kuranda, Australia.
The boy and girl, aged 5 and 7, watched as the scrub python devoured their silky terrier-Chihuahua crossbreed Monday at their home near Kuranda in Queensland state.
Stuart Douglas, owner of the Australian Venom Zoo in Kuranda, said scrub pythons typically eat wild animals such as wallabies, a smaller relative of the kangaroo, but sometimes turn to pets in urban areas.
"It actively stalked the dog for a number of days," Douglas said.
"The family that owned the dog had actually seen it in the dog's bed, which was a sign it was out to get it," he added.
"They should have called me then, but (the snake) got away and three or four days later, I was called and went around and removed it" after the dog had been killed, Douglas said.
By the time Douglas arrived, all that could be seen of the dog was its hind legs and tail.
The zoo manager, Todd Rose, said pythons squeeze their prey to death before swallowing it whole. The 5-year-old dog would have been suffocated within minutes. Video Watch snake handler show off dog-eating python »
"The lady who was there threw some plastic chairs at the snake, but you've got to remember that this is about 50 kilograms (110 pounds) of aggressive muscle," Rose said.
Removing the half-swallowed dog could have harmed or even killed the python, Rose said, because dogs have sharp teeth and claws that could do the snake internal damage if it were wrenched out.
The snake was still digesting the dog at the zoo Wednesday. It will soon be moved to the bush, Douglas said.

WASHINGTON—A photograph circulating on the Internet of Democratic Sen. Barack Obama dressed in traditional local garments during a visit to Kenya in 2006 is causing a dustup in the presidential campaign over what constitutes a smear.

The Associated Press photograph portrays Obama wearing a white turban and a wraparound white robe presented to him by elders in Wajir, in northeastern Kenya. Obama's estranged late father was Kenyan and Obama visited the country in 2006, attracting thousands of well-wishers.
The gossip and news Web site The Drudge Report posted the photograph Monday and said it was being circulated by "Clinton staffers" and quoted an e-mail from an unidentified campaign aide. Drudge did not include proof of the e-mail in the report.
"I just want to make it very clear that we were not aware of it, the campaign didn't sanction it and don't know anything about it," Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said in a teleconference with reporters. "None of us have seen the e-mail in question. If anybody has independent reporting that they've done on it I would welcome it."
Obama, in an interview with WOAI radio in San Antonio, Texas, said voters are "saddened when they see these kind of politics."
"Everybody knows that whether it's me or Senator Clinton or Bill Clinton that when you travel to other countries they ask you to try on traditional garb that you have been given as a gift," he said. "The notion that the Clinton campaign would be trying to circulate this as a negative on the same day that Senator Clinton was giving a speech about how we repair our relationships around the world is sad."
Obama campaign manager David Plouffe accused Clinton's campaign of "the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we've seen from either party in this election."
Clinton campaign manager Maggie Williams said the Obama campaign's reaction was inflaming passions and distracting voters.
"Enough," Williams said in a statement. "If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely.
"This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry."
In a teleconference with reporters, retired Air Force Gen. Scott Gration, an Obama adviser who accompanied the Illinois senator to Kenya two years ago, said the senator was there to learn how tribes were organizing themselves.
"And in the course of this, Senator Obama was given an outfit and as the guest that he was, the great guest, he took this outfit and they encouraged him to try some of it on," Gration said. "It was a thing that we all do."
In December, two Clinton Iowa volunteers resigned after forwarding a hoax e-mail that falsely said Obama is a Muslim possibly intent on destroying the United States. Obama is a member of the United Church of Christ and says he has never been a Muslim, but false rumors about Islamic ties are circulating on the Internet.

Oscares 2008
Adiós a Julia, Tom, Meg, Jodie.
